🌘 How To Do Backstabs In Dark Souls
For Dark Souls on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "urgghh how do I avoid backstabs?" - Page 2.
Once you can counter simple strafing those players become extremely easy to beat, and you can then open your eyes to the rest of dark souls pvp like animation priority tech (toggles to escape stun, backstab chains, priority backstabs), proper spacing to shut down backstab fishing playstyles (reverse rolls, barrel rolls, pivots) and ton of
I back-stabbed someone mid cast, and it still managed to one-shot me. My butt is ON FIRE. WATAUGACJ 11 years ago #5. Demon Great Axe + Darkmoon Blade+3 + Power Within + Hornet Ring = 1hko. For your stats tho a +15 rapier with all the buffs might come close.
Best ring in the game!!!!! Easy backstabs!!! Is the old kings ring. It is found inside a chest somewhere in the foggy woods. Basically it is karmic justice but on a ring. Except hits carry over. So you can go and get hit 6 times or until the red aura is large enough.
I know that the natural reaction for evading a backstab would be to roll away, but in Dark Souls PvP rolling is what you absolutely shouldn't do when evading backstab attempts. Backstabs can override the i-frames of rolls, so if you roll away from a backstab attempt it would almost definitely result in a backstab, something that looks like this
At least that's how it worked in Demon's Souls, excluding the fatal upgrades, the DBS was king. It was pretty well accepted that a BS from it would empty the HP of any phantom. That is and isn't true, for the most part. Like was said earlier, the thrusting swords are negating armor in their backstabs/ripostes in ways that the other weapons are not.
Oh backstabs aren't hard to avoid or anything. Though I do believe the community relies on them far to heavily to win. In my opinion, when most of the community simply BS fishes, the fights simply aren't as fun.
The hit-confirmation for backstabs is indeed one of the few things that I think have helped improved PvP in Dark Souls 2. I really find it sad and pathetic that so many people here are nostalgic for the days of magnetic snap-on-stab backstabs. The problem is not the hit confirmation.
Buy a rapier from the merchant in the burg. Then when you get to the knight, his name is Havel, you backstab constantly. Make sure you are under 25% burden and have a fast roll. Dodge at the last second of his attack, as it is slow and tracks, so if you dodge to early, he will hit you anyway.
No better way to ruin combat than being backstabbed. Even if you roll away you still get teleported back to be stabbed. Heck I even jumped off a cliff once and still got teleported back even after I hit the ground. And I don't want to talk about the people that backstab you when your facing directly in front of them. Will admit not as broken as compared to Dark Souls 1. I just think it should
Backstabs With Demon's Souls and the first Dark Souls, backstabs were instant. You get behind an enemy and push the attack button and then you're locked into the backstab animation with the enemy, doing a huge critical attack. With the later Souls games, if you are behind an enemy and go for a backstab, you can whiff as it's not instant.
Backstab setups are generally objective and will work under any connection. If you are getting backstabbed repeatedly, look for a connection like "swinging a third time" or something like that, that's getting you backstabbed.
